I have been around since Eisenhower and I have never witnessed a presidency that comes close to the kindergarten intelligence and blatant corruption of this one. I figure, if millions of people can actually believe this amoral, one digit IQ, spoiled brat is worthy of an office once occupied by Abraham Lincoln, than I can talk about the kind of country I envision for my young grandson.
George Orwell’s 1984 was not a pretty picture. I kind of have an idea where he was going, considering he wrote it in 1949. Ironically, I think he placed too much emphasis on our intelligence to create such a well controlled environment, because we are still terribly frayed around the edges, downright sloppy. However, the danger of an authoritarian state is lurking in the shadows and creeping into the light. The good news is McDonald’s is not serving soylent green!
In 2084, my grandson will be around my age and I thought about the world I want for him. I have as much right to dream as Orwell. I want my darling grandson to have a different world than the one we have today.

I will mandate splitting the Pentagon in half, one focused on Peace and the other on Self-Defense. Aggression will not be tolerated, nor will the imposition of our political will on other sovereign nations. We will unilaterally eliminate all our nuclear weapons. You know, I used to have a heavy bag that I aggressively punched each morning. Before I had it and after it was gone, I didn’t feel the need to punch the shit out of it. The idea of turning the other cheek has far more power than a fist.
If elected, I will quickly re-institute and rejuvenate the Peace Corp, with a domestic branch and an international one. I am not sure if I would make it mandatory after high school graduation, but I would not rule it out. The infrastructure of this country is in shambles and it is not simply other countries that need our help. What a great opportunity to help ground kids with a sense of purpose.
My God, I would eliminate the Department of Homeland Security and make it disappear even more quickly than it appeared. This department came out of the same misguided idiocy of the non-existent weapons of mass destruction and it should cease to exist.
We need to close all our military basis around the world. The idea that aggression is a deterrence to anything, fostering only more violence, is crazy and horrendously costly in dollars and lives.
I would create a Global Strike First Deterrence Treaty, with self-defense as the only offense worth maintaining. It is amazing what happens to us when fear cannot be used as a weapon.
I would demilitarize Outer Space and I am in shock that civilized nations would think otherwise.
Electronic interference between countries is a crisis many of us are still unaware of. Today, Russia is manipulating US public opinion in favor of Donald Trump, with lies and deceit that are indistinguishable from the facts. By the way, there is still such a thing as facts, which have been cheapened and discredited. China has been doing exactly the same deception on behalf of Biden. God only knows what our country is doing. This must stop!
While we are still dealing with world issues, we need to establish a Climate Court that has the ability to penalize countries, regardless of size, that ignore a set of rules we put in place, before we all become a footnote.
Man, do we have work to do at home. The domestic agenda is jam packed, so let’s get started.
We cannot spend another dime subsidizing the oil and gas industry. It’s like paying you to buy a pack of cigarettes! We have to create tax and investment incentives for the expansion of the renewable energy sector.
While we are on the subject of taxes, I got a couple of planks for the platform. Christ, we have to eliminate tax loopholes for corporate America. Please explain to me how Amazon and Apple don’t pay a freakin’ dime in taxes? You know what? Don’t even try, because it is a complete perversion of anything remotely close to fairness. Our personal income structure is a bad joke and there is nothing to laugh about. Honestly, I think billionaires are cool, but not with a system that protects them so much.
On the subject of wealth and its perverted influence, we must have public financing of elections. Imagine, you win an election and the vast majority of your constituents don’t have a pot to pee in? The handful of white men that got you elected have all the money you will ever need to stay in office. Who the hell are you going to be beholding to?
Now, let’s talk briefly about what the government owes you for being a part of this system. Every year you have worked, you have taken home way less than you liked, because it was taken by the government to be put into a system that would provide you with an annual retirement once you reach a certain age. To me, no matter how much money you earn in a year, there should be no cut off for payment into Social Security. This payback to you should never, ever be something that the government teases you about. It is yours and you have earned it. Those who don’t need it, shouldn’t get it.
Our healthcare system is a goddamn joke. First of all, it supports a multi-billion dollar insurance industry that simply feeds on your frailty and it is criminal. Every one of us should have Medicare that covers our health needs. No one, black or white, rich or poor, should die, because they are prevented from getting the care they need. What kind of society treats its people with such cruelty?
Education is another one of those mandatory rights in a civilized society. Every boy and girl should have the right to free pre-K to college. What is fair about withholding the right to an education from any young American?
While we are on the subject of equality, there are few more things I want to legislate. First of all, let’s pass the damn ERA. I don’t think the slave owning guys in Philadelphia really believed in equality, but it is to their credit for putting this country on that path. Men and women should be paid the same for the same work. How can we still be talking about it? You know what else? Let women have the right to decide what they want to do with their bodies and tell God to stay in the church.
Let’s stop abusing the second amendment, regarding the right to bear arms. Do you think those musket loading guys ever imagined magazines that could hold hundreds of armor piercing bullets? Let me help you with this answer, it is no!
I almost left out one last thing, often an afterthought for all of us. There were hundred of tribes of Native Americans living here long before the fairy tale of the Pilgrims and their hardships, celebrated with the myth of Thanksgiving. Until we take care of them, we can’t even think about taking care of ourselves.
This is my dream for 2084 and we cannot afford for it to be science fiction. I know there is even more that needs to be done, but this ain’t half bad for a start and there is a limit to your patience as well.
