First, the good news, I didn’t drop the bike today, not even once. Things went smoothly this morning when it was time to leave. OK, I did have to go over to an RV and ask a guy for help, because the bike stand dug deep into the gravel and the angle was impossible for me to correct. When he pushed the bike straight up, I slipped a board under the stand, so it stood erect, allowing me to move into my day. Happy now?

I was in no hurry to leave Neskowin Creek this morning. I waited for it to warm up, so I could have a decent run. I ran up the road to a small development and I think it is called Neskowin Shores. I knew the Pacific was in the neighborhood and I thought I’d run there. Charlie Chaplin followed directions to the beach and didn’t find it. I ran back to the cabin and proceeded to pack one more time.

IMG_0610 Following the righting of the machine, I headed back to the shopping center to get a late breakfast, with an all-important cup of black coffee. I wasn’t going to bother looking for the Pacific Ocean, but I changed my mind, partially because at least one of you will want to see a photograph of my first sighting. There is a sweet, little community bubbled around the beachfront.

Today’s destination was my very own safari tent down in Coos Bay, where I am right now, but more on that in a moment. I turned the corner on my ride, when I left the sight of the double drop to Neskowin, putting me on the coast, and the start of my descent toward San Francisco.

IMG_0611 I wanted to have a good day today, partially because yesterday was stressful and I needed to get back in the groove. Fear is an emotional disease and we are stuck with having to create our own antidote. I rode with the Pacific on my right and it was great to see her again. However, the ocean here is cold and windy, with a raw quality about it. Today’s ride was about four hours and much of the time was spent looking over at the vast expanse of ocean and shoreline. It was definitely cold.

After stopping a couple of times to make sure I was on target, I finally rode into the Oceanside Beachfront RV Park. I am always surprised to find my destination and it usually involves stopping at least once for directions.

I had been talking about the safari tent for a while now and I was wondering about the appearance of the place from the outside. I am in the tent, now, which is not heated, but it doesn’t seem to be bothering me. Although I am sitting in a chair, already buried in a sleeping bag. It is such a cozy environment that you don’t feel as cold as the outside. The ocean is my neighbor and I love the sound.

The view out the back of the tent is  all all ocean and beach. it has a rawness about it. Well, I think I am going to say goodnight. I felt light for most of the day and I am not in the mood to turn over rocks and look for anything complicated right now. Hope you don’t mind.
