Larry Feinstein never watched Mad Men because he was one of them. Having worked in four advertising agencies, several television networks and a TV program syndicator over a span of twenty years, it made him backtrack to happier careers as a lunchtime waiter in a deli, while in elementary school. After marrying, having two sons and divorcing, he made a bold move to Santa Fe, New Mexico years after having visited it once. During his fifteen years there, Larry’s resume is an odd mix of concert promoter, starting a radio station, a British record label and selling gospel videos on TV.
Nothing prepared Larry more for his quest with Zen than selling gospel music, and so he continued west to the island of Kauai, to adventure in a place he had never seen, that was rumored to be paradise. Here he continued his pursuit of Zen Buddhism, a discipline he loosely follows along with drinking daily quantities of Kefir coconut water.
Larry bought a motorcycle with flames on the side, and rode alone for a month discovering the beauty of the island when a local rider directed him in part Hawaiian and part English (known as pidgin’) to a weekly local riding group. Larry Feinstein became the honorary Haole in The Sons of Kauai, and continues to ride with them whenever he gets the opportunity.
Larry has always been putting words and thoughts together in his mind over the years. Sharing those thoughts to reach out to others and touch them has become an urgency for him. His love for words, humanity and his motorcycle are coming together in this blog to share with you.
